Karimloo is a heartbreaker. I want more older, tall, thin, creepy McGillin Phantoms. Jones is the only Phantom to make me cry while watching a bootleg. No one sings it like Crawford…the Angel of Music. No one is more delightfully crazed than Panaro. Mauer is the perfect blend of pitiful and scary.
More of those, please, future Phantoms. :)
Watching Hugh Panaro’s final lair followed by Gary Mauer’s final lair capped off with John Owen Jones’s final lair. I need to go chop some onions so no one asks why I’m crying. Excuse me…

My favorite four <3 I’ve even seen all but one of them perform live, met them at stage doors and awkwardly asked for autographs.
Someday, Noodles…someday…
Day 15: Favorite ALW Phantom
Ramin Karimloo would have to be my favorite. I’ve seen Phantom live over 30 times in New York and once in London over the course of thirteen years, but I honestly couldn’t remember the last time I cried seeing the show. I thought maybe I’d just desensitized myself to it or something. And believe me, I’ve been seated in the front row many times, so I have seen the performance up close before. But the 25th Anniversary screening blew my mind. I did not think I would cry but there I was in the movie theater, tears streaming down my face during Music of the Night. That is incredible. I know people have strong reactions to his performance and they’re all over the charts, but I was overwhelmed by his Phantom and I do believe he deserves the praise and recognition he has received for it. He has earned it. Beautiful voice, soulful acting…he is committed and truthful and I believe him when he plays this character. I’m just beside myself. No amount of noise from the haters can detract one ounce of the enjoyment I get from seeing his performance.

(Don’t cry, Noodles. Amy hug, Amy fix)
If I may, I would like to add a few honorable mentions…
In Paris…with a dog…just too cute.
Awwww he would totally love Hugo. Too bad there’s no way to ask “do you want to meet my dog?” without sounding like a batshit creeper….

Just look at the punum XD
An interview with Hugh Panaro, who plays The Phantom in Broadway’s longest running production, The Phantom of the Opera, about his take on the 2004 movie vs. the stage musical.
Yep. Hollywood wanted the Phantom to be “hot.” Direct quote. That just about tears it. I mean, we all knew that’s what they were doing. I’m not shocked. But it’s just so crappy.
And for the record, I’d get down with any stage!Phantom before I’d even look twice at Gerik. Harumph.
Hollywood sucks.
