It’s worth keeping this DVD for Sharon Millership as Meg. Poor, poor Meg. And I find myself feeling worse and worse for Simon Gleeson’s Raoul. I don’t dislike the performers themselves, don’t get me wrong, but I find Christine and “Mr. Y” increasingly selfish and down right unlikable. Mr. Y (whether directly, indirectly, intentionally, or unintentionally) used Meg up and sold her out and now the poor girl is suicidal. Christine was unfaithful to Raoul, got herself knocked up with another man’s baby and then happily went back to marry him so that he could support her and her child. Never telling him the truth. That is vile.
I think Christine dying is a bit of a cop out, so I don’t accept it as a suitable ending…but can you imagine Mr. Y and Christine living happily after all the torment they’ve inflicted on the other people who have loved them? That is heartbreaking.

Holy crap. My dad is watching Cape Fear and while the main theme was playing, I thought he was listening to some weird Love Never Dies…because theme sounds exactly like “Please Miss Giry, I Want To Go Back”

And now I just want to watch the Sideshow Bob Cape Feare episode of The Simpsons…
